Tiny Vroom

Unity | Personal Game | Aug 2025 – Present

Overview

Tiny Vroom was originally born as a technical exercise to master FMOD for interactive audio integration. However, during development, I rediscovered a childhood passion: Carrera GO! slot-car tracks. What started as a test project quickly evolved into a heartfelt tribute to one of my favorite childhood games.

As a solo developer, I am responsible for the entire technical implementation, from the core spline-based driving physics to the polished UI/UX. The game is currently in version 0.5 and is a playground for my experiments in gameplay feel and audio immersion.

Future Plans: VR Vision

The journey doesn't end here. My vision for Tiny Vroom is to transform it into a full VR experience, specifically designed for the Meta Quest 3. The goal is to allow players to literally "sit" in front of the track, using mixed reality or immersive environments to manipulate the circuits and cars with their hands, bringing the classic slot-car experience into the next generation of gaming.

Technical Implementation

Driving & Movement

Implemented a full driving system featuring spline-based movement combined with physics for a "slot-car" yet dynamic feel. Includes custom turbo, acceleration, and drift behavior.

Multiplayer & Input

Robust local multiplayer logic supporting shared-screen races and flexible input handling (Keyboard & Controllers).

AI Prototypes

Developed adaptive AI opponents that use track data to adjust their speed and behavior, providing a challenging single-player experience.

VFX & Audio

Interactive smoke and particle effects that react to driving style (skids, drifts). Improved engine audio system for better immersion.
